Pet-Friendly Senior Living in Tulsa, OK: What to Expect

One-third of older adults in senior communities enjoy the companionship of a pet, according to Nataša Obradović (2021). This fact goes a long way to showing how much we as a species love such closeness, but when it comes to retirement, not all communities in Tulsa, OK, will allow people to take their beloved companion with them.
Here at The Country Club at Woodland Hills, however, we strive for pet-friendly senior living and welcome a variety of animals. So, read on to discover which pets are perfect when your loved one is staying with us, and how our amenities give residents everything they need to make looking after their companions effortless.

Pet-Friendly Senior Living with The Country Club at Woodland Hills
Our pet-friendly space is ideal for all types of animals, from dogs and cats to fish and birds, and beyond. We will review every one on a case-by-case basis, with a variety of sizes and species allowed. Our staff can discuss our limits with you or a loved one directly before signing to avoid surprises and ensure that nobody faces disappointment.
Before a senior moves in, we will need to check all of the pet's pertinent records, including:
- Vaccination records
- Proof of spaying or neutering
- Behavioral records
- Other important information
By doing this, we ensure that both our residents and every animal companion are safe from potential harm. As such, one can have the assurance that they are coming into a community where both the people and pets are friendly to all others, and we can be just as pleasant in return.
Please note that a $500 fee applies to most animals. We request this to cover any additional carpet cleaning that may result from bringing another pet into the community, or to address the resolution of any other Tulsa pet policies for seniors.
We waive the fee in the instance that the animal is an assistance or support animal of some kind. These animals must still undergo standard onboarding to ensure the process goes smoothly, however, so do not forgo discussing them with us.
Floor Plans Sized for Pet Comfort
We are aware that the average apartment size in the U.S. continues to increase year on year, reaching over 900 square feet. As such, we aim to ensure that those staying with us can claim apartments with similar freedom of movement. The largest of our accommodations range up to two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments that are 1,239 square feet, allowing for ample space for pets to move around.
Our open layouts allow for residents to move furniture around as they see fit, not only for the sake of pets but also for general comfort. Independent living with pets in Tulsa should feel as comfortable as possible, and this includes carving out a little space that feels uniquely one's own.
Meanwhile, for pets, we take several steps to ensure that our apartments are designed from the ground up with them in mind. Not only are they spacious, allowing for a lot of movement for both cats and dogs, but their flooring is made of easily cleaned materials that simplify the handling of any:
- Spillages
- Unfortunate messes
- Pet hair
- Muddy or dusty paw prints
At the same time, the spaces are built to allow plenty of light in. Pets can utilize the community to relax in the sunlight and fresh air that comes in through the garden-facing windows, promoting relaxation and well-being.
Pet-Friendly Outdoor Living in Dog-Friendly Senior Cottages
Even the outdoor areas in our apartments are perfectly designed to accommodate those with pets. Each cottage, for example, includes a patio and a fenced-in yard. Due to this, dogs can play safely in the area without residents needing to worry about their companions escaping.
Our apartments also make good use of balconies with secure railings. As such, even in higher community residences, residents can find outdoor spaces where seniors can relax with their pets and enjoy the weather.
During the evening, the light from an apartment can also light up the balcony, offering a calming time alongside a faithful pet.
Community Bark Park Space
Within our community, we ensure that pets have somewhere to stretch their legs without residents needing to travel far. So, we have converted one of our lawns into a "Bark park" space. These dog park areas allow pets to run around freely, off their leashes, allowing them to fully express their energy and excitement.
With benches that circle this space, a resident can supervise their pet while also relaxing or spending time socializing with other pet owners who might want to share the space. Through parks like these, those in The Country Club at Woodland Hills can start new friendships by sharing camaraderie over pet-based challenges or the shenanigans of their shared animal companions.
We have ensured that we have provided sufficient shade, so being outside is not uncomfortable, even in the midday sun. These bark parks are also perfect for making sure a pet remains well-cared for while senior community members discuss the latest writing group results or art club expressionism.
Maintenance Free Living for More Pet Time
We understand that pets and senior wellness often go hand in hand, yet we recognize that pet care can be tiring for residents. As such, make sure to check out our weekly housekeeping efforts. The cleaning and renewal of a resident's personal space allows them to spend their time with whoever means the most to them, whether it's a pet, a family member, or even a new friend.
Watch a Loved One Enjoy Time with Their Best Friend
The Country Club at Woodland Hills is a welcoming space that encourages our residents with pets to enjoy everything they can about staying in a space that welcomes their full, furry family. From shaded lawns to open floor plans, we give people everything they need to enjoy their future with beloved animal companions in retirement.
