Bixby History

Bixby first became a town back in the year 1899. It was named after the chairman of the Dawes Commission, Tams Bixby. In 1904, a depot was built in this area by Midland Valley Railroad. It was incorporated in 1906 and held its first election in February 1907. Then in 1913, oil fields were found near the city which allowed Bixby to develop economically.
